Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Sharjah is seeking a Safety Engineer with at least 2-3 years of experience in MEP or building services projects. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering or a related field and possess relevant certifications in health and safety. Responsibilities include reviewing compliance with safety requirements, conducting training, and investigating incidents to ensure workplace safety. This position offers a dynamic work environment focused on safety standards and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Certification in health and safety with suitable level (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to make sure that they meet safety requirements, certifications and standards.
  • Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment of the company.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of various industrial control mechanisms at the project sites.
  • Ensure that buildings or products comply with health and safety regulations, especially after an inspection that required changes.
  • Install safety devices on machinery or direct the installation of these devices.
  • Review employee safety programs and recommend improvements, if necessary.
  • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.
  • Investigate incidents, determine root cause and develop corrective actions.

Support HSE inspections, audits and self‑assessments.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical/industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification in health and safety with suitable level (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
  • In-depth understanding of MEP construction methods, equipment, and hazards.
  • Familiarity with applicable safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA, local codes).
  • Experience with hot works, electrical safety, working at heights, HVAC & R systems, and confined spaces is essential.
  • ISO Audit experience.
