We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HSE Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical safety design, loss prevention, and fire protection systems with proven experience in FEED and detailed design phases for major industrial projects such as oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy facilities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and review HSE engineering deliverables including: Fire & gas detection layouts, Escape route and safety signage layouts, Firewater system layouts and hydraulic calculations, Hazardous area classification drawings, Safety equipment location layouts, Cause & Effect diagrams
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA) in collaboration with other disciplines.
- Participate in and support safety studies and audits during project lifecycle.
- Prepare technical specifications, data sheets and design basis documents for HSE systems.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, local regulations and international standards (NFPA, API, OISD, OSHA, IEC, ISO, ADNOC, COPs).
- Interface with process, piping, electrical, civil and instrumentation teams to ensure integrated design.
- Review vendor documents related to fire protection, gas detection and safety equipment.
- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders on design reviews and approvals.
- Provide support during procurement, construction and commissioning phases as needed.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Safety or related discipline).
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in HSE / Technical Safety Design preferably in oil & gas or petrochemical projects.
- Familiarity with international HSE design codes and standards: NFPA, API, ISO, IEC, OHSAS/ISO 45001 etc.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD SmartPlant or other relevant design tools.
- Experience with ADNOC, Aramco, QatarEnergy or similar clients is a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of firewater demand calculations, fire protection philosophies and hazardous area classification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or equivalent is an advantage.
