Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Head of English Department (HOD) to lead, manage, and develop the English faculty, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement. The HOD will be responsible for curriculum planning, faculty mentoring, performance monitoring, and fostering a culture of academic excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the English Department, ensuring delivery of a high-quality curriculum in line with school / college standards.
  • Develop, review, and implement schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching strategies.
  • Mentor, train, and support English teachers to enhance instructional practices.
  • Monitor student performance, conduct assessments, and ensure academic progress.
  • Organize departmental meetings, workshops, and professional development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with educational policies, examination standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Collaborate with school leadership on strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Handle departmental administration including timetabling, workload management, and reporting.
  • Engage with parents, students, and stakeholders regarding academic progress and initiatives.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Master’s degree in English Literature / English Language or related field (PhD preferred).
  • B.Ed. / Teaching qualification is mandatory.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of teaching experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
