Job description

Apt Resources is looking for a dedicated Health Foreman to join our dairy farm team. This role is essential in ensuring the health and well-being of the dairy herd and will involve supervising health protocols, direct animal care, and maintaining high standards of hygiene throughout the farm operations. As the Health Foreman, you will work closely with veterinarians and farm staff to implement and monitor health management strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise all aspects of herd health, treatment, and disease prevention.
  • Conduct daily inspections to identify signs of illness, injury, or distress.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
  • Record and update all treatments, health checks, and veterinary visits.
  • Work closely with the farm veterinarian and management to implement herd health programs.
  • Oversee isolation, recovery, and special care areas for sick or calving cows.
  • Ensure proper hygiene, biosecurity, and safety procedures in all livestock areas.
  • Train and guide farm staff in animal health observation and first response care.
  • Report any major health concerns or abnormal patterns to management promptly.
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in dairy herd health or livestock management.
  • Strong knowledge of animal health, disease prevention, and treatment procedures.
  • Familiarity with veterinary protocols, medications, and herd management systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping skills.
  • Good leadership and communication skills.li>
