Head of Department (HOD) – Maths – Abu Dhabi, UAE

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Head of Department (HOD) – Maths to lead our dynamic Maths department at a prestigious school in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This exciting leadership role is available for an August 2025 start. The school offers a blend of the American curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB), providing a comprehensive and innovative educational experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Maths Department, overseeing curriculum development, lesson planning, and the academic progress of students.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the American curriculum and IB standards, fostering a rigorous and engaging learning environment.
  • Support, mentor, and guide teaching staff, helping them improve their practice and achieve professional goals.
  • Assess student progress and implement strategies to support and challenge students of all abilities.
  • Promote a culture of excellence in teaching and learning across the department.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and other department heads to drive school improvement and achieve academic goals.
  • Organize departmental meetings, workshops, and training sessions to ensure continuous professional development.
Requirements
  • Western‑trained teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field (a Master’s degree or teaching qualification such as PGCE or equivalent is preferred).
  • Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience in a similar leadership role, ideally in a school that follows an American curriculum or IB system.
  • Teaching license from an accredited institution.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience in implementing curriculum changes, assessments, and educational innovation.
  • Passionate about fostering a positive, inclusive, and high‑performing learning environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of educators.
