Job Title: Electrical Engineer – MEP Contractor (Hotel Resort Project)

Location: Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

Reporting to: Electrical Project Engineer / MEP Project Manager

Industry: MEP Contracting

Role Purpose

The Electrical Engineer will support the execution, coordination, and delivery of all electrical works for a large-scale hotel resort project. The role ensures that all electrical installations meet project specifications, quality standards, authority requirements, and integrate efficiently with mechanical and plumbing systems handled by the MEP Contractor.

Key Responsibilities
1. Technical & Engineering Support
  • Prepare, review, and update electrical shop drawings, schematics, load calculations, SLDs, and as-built drawings.
  • Review consultant drawings/specifications and raise RFIs where clarification is required.
  • Prepare technical submittals and ensure timely consultant/authority approvals (FEWA, Civil Defense, etc.).
  • Assist in quantity take-offs for materials, equipment, and site execution planning.
2. Site Execution & Supervision
  • Supervise and inspect electrical installations including:
  • LV distribution systems
  • Lighting & small power
  • Emergency and exit lighting
  • Earthing & lightning protection
  • Cable routing, cable trays, trunking, and conduits
  • ELV systems such as fire alarm, CCTV, access control, BMS, IPTV, SMATV
  • Generators, ATS panels, UPS, MDBs, SMDBs
  • Ensure installation works follow approved shop drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
  • Monitor site progress, coordinate with site supervisors/foremen, and report daily updates to the Project Engineer.
3. MEP Coordination
  • Coordinate electrical installations with mechanical, plumbing, and civil teams to avoid clashes and ensure smooth execution.
  • Attend internal coordination meetings and assist in resolving technical and site-related issues.
  • Work closely with the BIM/coordination team to address conflicts in MEP coordination drawings.
4. Materials & Procurement
  • Prepare material requisitions in line with approved BOQ and specifications.
  • Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Conduct material inspections upon arrival and ensure compliance with approved submittals.
5. Testing, Commissioning & QA/QC
  • Prepare testing and commissioning procedures for electrical and ELV systems.
  • Conduct inspections with QA/QC engineers and participate in authority and consultant inspections.
  • Support the handover process by preparing test sheets, O&M manuals, and as-built documentation.
6. Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure site activities adhere to safety guidelines, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, FEWA standards, NFPA/BS codes, and Civil Defense requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–8 years of experience with an MEP contractor on large-scale projects (hotel, high-rise, mixed-use preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems installation and coordination within MEP contracting environments.
  • Experience in authority submissions, consultant coordination, and site execution.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit/BIM is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and technical problem-solving skills.
