Job summary

A well-established Emirati construction company is seeking a Draftsman - Civil to prepare and maintain civil and structural drawings for EHV substations and associated projects. Candidates should have a diploma in Civil Engineering or CAD Drafting, at least 5 years of relevant drafting experience, and strong skills in AutoCAD. Knowledge of UAE or GCC standards and excellent attention to detail are essential. Proficiency in English is required; Arabic is a plus.

Job description

As a Draftsman - Civil (EHV, Substation/OHL/UGC), you will be responsible for preparing, updating, and maintaining all civil and structural drawings required for EHV Substations (400/220/132 kV), Overhead Transmission Line (OHL) works, and Underground Cable (UGC) projects up to 400 kV, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with project standards.

Key Accountabilities

• Preparing computer-aided design (CAD) civil and structural drawings for substation buildings, equipment foundations, transformer foundations, cable trenches, excavations, road works, and drainage systems.
• Drawing detailed drawings of overhead transmission line foundations, tower/pole foundation layouts, anchor blocks, and structural details.
• Prepare detailed drawings for overhead transmission line foundations, tower/pole foundation layouts, anchor blocks, and structural details. Prepare civil drawings related to utility authority requirements, such as trench sections, pipe connection layouts, tie box rooms, and track alignment drawings.
• Update drawings based on engineering modifications, field observations, and client feedback.
• Ensure drawings comply with utility standards (Transco, DEWA, Abu Dhabi Distribution, ADNOC) and international regulations.
• Maintain and update drawing records, modification records, and document management databases.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, and structural engineers to prepare bills of quantities, reinforcement schedules, and construction packages. Support site teams with clarifications and issue shop drawings.
• Assist tender teams in preparing required civil drawings for bids.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

We Are Looking For

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or CAD Drafting (mandatory).
• Experience Minimum 5 years drafting experience in:
  Substation civil works (400/220/132 kV)
  OHL foundations and structural works (up to 400 kV)
  Underground cable civil works (up to 400 kV)
• Previous experience in the UAE or GCC is highly desirable.
• Strong technical knowledge of IEC, DEWA, TRANSCO, and ADNOC standards
• Strong understanding of civil/structural drawing standards and detailing.
• Familiar with reinforcement detailing, concrete works, and earthworks drawings.
• Knowledge of route alignment, trench details, and foundation designs.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory), MS Office (basic), and Revit or Civil 3D (advantageous).
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
