Job Description

Clinical Ink is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Engineering team based remotely across the United States! The Data Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity and reliability of data across all Clinical Ink products by collaborating with cross-functional teams, investigating issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing automated quality checks, dashboards, and monitoring tools. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated programming skills (SQL, Java, Python, or similar) combined with prior experience driving continuous improvements in data processes, supporting technical troubleshooting, and using regulatory and SOP-compliant data practices to further enhance internal operations and customer experience. The Data Engineer's responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Development, Product Support, Study Build, Data Management, and others to investigate and resolve data related issues across all platforms and products.
  • Lead efforts to review data integrity and identify potential data anomalies using SQL queries and analytical techniques.
  • Perform root cause analysis on identified issues and contribute to corrective and preventative action planning.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and/or reports to monitor data quality trends and recurring issues.
  • Implement automated data quality checks and alerts for real-time anomaly detection.
  • Assist with ongoing data cleaning efforts to ensure accurate data deliveries, smooth data locking, and customer interim analyses.
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and proposing solutions under guidance from senior engineers and R&D leadership.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of support cases, technical findings, and resolutions to support future troubleshooting.
  • Optimize internal data-related processes by identifying pain points and recommending improvements to enhance user and customer experience.
  • Ensure data handling complies with regulatory standards and internal SOPs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information systems or software engineering
  • 2+ years of industry experience as a data engineer, software engineer or related field with experience working with large or complex datasets
  • Demonstrated ability to write high quality code in one or more common data engineering programming languages such as Java, Python, Scala, SQL
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to detect patterns, anomalies, and inconsistencies in large datasets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with clinical trial data or healthcare datasets strongly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical and data-related issues to internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
  • Experience with other information management disciplines including data governance, data science, machine learning, data quality, data catalogs and data lineage preferred but not required.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving under pressure, which are critical in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Familiarity with Clinical Ink products, integrations, and processes is highly desirable.
