A healthcare provider in the UAE is looking for a Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon to provide advanced surgical care to infants and children with heart diseases. The ideal candidate should have Tier-1, Western training and experience in complex pediatric cardiac procedures. Responsibilities include performing various surgeries, pre-operative assessments, and collaborating with cardiology teams. The Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon is responsible for providing advanced surgical care to infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart diseases. The role requires a Tier-1, Western-trained surgeon with proven experience in complex pediatric cardiac procedures within a tertiary care environment.
One of the following (or equivalent):
UK CCT / CESR (Cardiothoracic Surgery – Pediatric focus)
American Board Certification (Thoracic Surgery + Pediatric Cardiac fellowship)
Canadian RCPSC Fellowship
Irish CSCST
Australian FRACS (Cardiothoracic Surgery – Pediatric)
German Facharzt (Cardiac Surgery with pediatric specialization)
Minimum 3–5 years post-consultant experience in pediatric cardiac surgery.
Demonstrated competence in high-complexity congenital cardiac procedures.
Eligible for DOH or DHA Consultant License.
DataFlow verification and DOH/DHA exam or exemption as per Tier-1 rules.
Perform the full spectrum of pediatric congenital cardiac surgeries, including:
Neonatal and infant cardiac repairs
VSD/ASD repairs
Tetralogy of Fallot repair
Arterial switch procedures
Valve repairs and replacements
Complex congenital reconstructions
Provide pre-operative assessment, operative care, and post-operative management.
Collaborate with pediatric cardiology, PICU, anesthesia, and perfusion teams.
Participate in surgical planning meetings and multidisciplinary case reviews.
Ensure high standards of documentation and compliance with UAE regulatory requirements.
Expertise in neonatal and infant cardiac surgery
Strong decision-making in high-acuity environments
Excellent communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered practice
Scheduled operating lists
Surgical consultations and inpatient rounds
Participation in cardiac surgery on-call rota
