The role involves examining patients, diagnosing illnesses related to glands such as the pituitary, adrenal, thyroid, and hypothalamus, and prescribing medication or recommending surgery as needed. The endocrinologist reports to a medical director within a hospital setting.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform examinations to identify signs of hormone imbalance, disorders, or diseases such as osteoporosis, diabetes, or thyroid issues.
• Order and interpret tests to understand patient conditions, including hormone level assessments and metabolic rates.
• Assess sugar and insulin levels to diagnose diabetes.
• Explain diagnoses to patients, prescribe treatments, and conduct follow-ups.
• Counsel patients on diet, hygiene, and preventative health measures for conditions like hypertension and cholesterol management.

Qualifications

• MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Relevant experience and competence in Endocrinology.
• Effective communication skills with patients and medical staff.
• Certification in Basic and Advanced Life Support; GYNAC certification is required.
• Fluency in English; Arabic skills are an advantage.
• Peer-reviewed publications are preferred.
