Job description

Act as a thought leader across practices by working closely with client teams to develop thought leadership that is novel and consistent and that strengthens the brand and positioning in the market. Lead editorial development and oversee production, in collaboration with external editors, RQ, copy editors, Visual Communication Services, of all pieces for publication generated under the brand. Manage relations with external contractors, manage their workflow, and develop their skills and specializations. This role can be based in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Riyadh.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the editorial calendar for thought leadership, aligned with corporate priorities and market opportunities.
  • Manage and oversee editorial development and production of all branded thought leadership pieces, across all written formats.
  • Lead client teams to develop ideas, structure, and recommend publication formats.
  • Train client teams to develop their thought leadership and writing skills.
  • Develop a proficient understanding of select industry verticals to optimize editorial contributions.
  • Hold the pen on select thought leadership editorial assignments.
  • Top edit the work of others in the process of editorial development.
  • Ensure alignment and coherency of thought leadership pieces, ascertaining that arguments, case studies, and recommendations are well-structured and relevant.
  • Manage multiple editorial projects simultaneously while maintaining full communications with Marketing Communications colleagues.
  • Champion consistency, quality, and novelty of editorial product within and across all practices.
  • Lead all thought leadership pieces through the content management system and work closely with the workflow coordinator to optimize workflow.
  • Manage contract writers, editors, and assistant editors, controlling the workflow and developing their skills and specializations.
  • Develop the roster of editors by area of specialty, and monitor quality and client feedback.
  • Uphold all RQI requirements enforced by the network across regional thought leadership, conducting self‑reviews and liaising directly with the global RQI team ahead of publishing content.
  • Oversee copyediting, design, and proofreading, in collaboration with Visual Communication Services and contract copy editors, of all brand content.
  • Produce, modify, and uphold production guidelines across all editorial resources.
Qualifications
  • 8 to 10 years of writing and editing experience in business, political, and tech articles, with a background in journalism and/or professional services.
  • Must have thought leadership piece writing experience with examples.
  • Strong background in selected industry verticals, such as telecom, public sector, energy, media, retail/consumer goods, and financial services.
Skills
  • Strong English editorial and writing skills with an ability to communicate complex material in a compelling manner.
  • Sound editorial judgment, ability to learn subject matter rapidly to support a range of practices.
  • Strong communication and managerial skills, particularly with remote working and contracting.
  • Knowledge of regional dynamics.
