Job Description
Civil Inspector (Infrastructure)
Dubai, UAE
What you'll be doing
- Monitor day‑to‑day civil and infrastructure works on site to ensure they are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project quality and safety requirements.
- Check that materials used and workmanship meet the required standards and are in line with project specifications and relevant codes.
- Carry out routine and hold‑point inspections for all civil/infrastructure activities (e.g., excavation, backfilling, compaction, subgrade/subbase, pavement layers, concrete works, structural works, utility installation, manholes, chambers, duct banks, etc.).
- Review and witness field and laboratory tests (e.g., soil compaction, concrete tests, asphalt tests, material compliance tests) and verify that results meet specification requirements.
- Verify that approved ITPs, method statements, and checklists are being followed by the Contractor.
- Prepare and maintain inspection requests, site inspection reports, daily records, and non‑conformance reports (NCRs) as required.
- Maintain systematic records of work progress, inspections, tests, and site communications for reference and audit.
- Assist the Resident Engineer/Assistant Resident Engineer in preparing progress reports and technical inputs as needed.
- Review and understand civil and infrastructure drawings, details, and schedules; check that works on site are in accordance with the latest approved drawings and clarify discrepancies to the RE/ARE.
- Report design or site issues promptly and support in resolving technical queries raised by the Contractor.
- Coordinate with other discipline inspectors (e.g., structural, utilities, traffic, landscaping) to ensure interfaces are properly managed.
- Monitor the Contractor’s adherence to quality control procedures and report any deficiencies to the RE/ARE.
- Support the implementation of project quality plans and participate in inspections related to NCRs and corrective actions.
- Promote and observe safe working practices; report unsafe conditions and coordinate with HSE staff on site where required.
- When required, support the RE/ARE during site visits by clients, authorities, and other stakeholders by providing factual site information and records.
- Ensure that works related to roads and utilities are carried out in line with local authority requirements and standards.
What required skills you'll bring
- Diploma in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction supervision of infrastructure projects including Roads, Bridges, Highways & Utilities
- Prior experience in a consultancy is required
- Strong knowledge of site construction practices and supervision procedures from the consultant/engineer’s side.
- Ability to read and interpret civil/infrastructure drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Familiarity with local authority standards and requirements for roads and utilities is an advantage.
- Proficient in preparing site inspection reports, daily reports, and maintaining systematic records.
- Ability to work in a site‑based, fast‑paced environment as part of a multidisciplinary supervision team.
