ABOUT THE ROLE

The Buyer for department stores will be responsible for the Kidswear category across our multi-luxury brands in the region. This person is directly responsible for the buy strategy to plan, project, and identify the requirements of the products, purchasing the required quantities that meet customer needs, thereby maximizing profits and providing a commercially viable range of products. This role demands enthusiasm, energy, and a commitment to create an unparalleled shopping experience.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Strategic Roles And Responsibilities:
  • Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, sell-through, seasonal demands, etc., to formulate a buying practice in line with consumer/store demands.
Functional Roles And Responsibilities:
  • Plan and select the range, type, quality, and quantity of merchandise according to customer demand, trends, store policies, and set prices and sell-through targets in conjunction with the Division Merchandise Manager/GMM to ensure they are in line with the budget.
  • Carry out purchasing activities in line with the brand purchase plans.
  • Keep abreast of market trends and awareness of competitor activities.
  • Maintain profitable relationships with existing suppliers/principals and monitor adherence to contract terms.
  • Monitor stock levels in stores; coordinate with the planning team to maintain optimal stock levels according to consumer demand.
  • Support promotional activities in the store and ensure merchandise is available in time and in the right quantities. Receive and analyze reports on activities and provide recommendations to the DMM when required.
  • Support PR and Marketing teams by guiding and validating product selection for planned campaigns.
  • Negotiate with suppliers on training provisions for concerned products. Manage brand training for staff to ensure product knowledge is up-to-date and staff are knowledgeable on new products/trends. Prepare and deliver regular trend training to business units.
  • Review buying feedback reports and monitor weekly sales performance against targets, providing recommendations to the DMM on buying strategies for respective brands.
  • Prepare periodic reports analyzing sales turnover and consumer trends per product, and propose actions to maintain, liquidate, or discontinue stock in collaboration with Planning and/or continue/discontinue product lines.
  • Conduct regular store visits across markets to review brand performance and competitor activities.
People Management Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and direction to subordinates to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Guide and motivate team members to enhance performance, produce quality work, and develop for higher roles.
