Overview
We are looking for a knowledgeable and highly organized Boat Service Manager to lead and oversee our service department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine maintenance and repair, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for managing the service team, scheduling and coordinating repairs, maintaining quality control and ensuring timely service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all operations within the boat service department including maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and inspections.
- Lead, train and motivate a team of marine technicians, mechanics and support staff.
- Schedule and prioritize service work based on urgency, availability and customer commitments.
- Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer standards, safety regulations and company policies.
- Communicate with customers regarding service needs, estimates, timelines and updates.
- Manage inventory of parts, tools and equipment, coordinating with suppliers and parts departments.
- Maintain detailed service records, invoices and work orders using service management software.
- Monitor department performance metrics such as turnaround time, customer satisfaction and service revenue.
- Resolve customer complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
- Stay updated on the latest marine technologies, manufacturer guidelines and compliance regulations.
- Collaborate with sales and warranty departments to ensure smooth transitions and post-sale service.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in marine service management or similar technical leadership role.
- Strong technical knowledge of marine engines, electrical systems, hull maintenance and diagnostics.
- Excellent leadership, communication and team management skills.
- Customer-focused with a commitment to high-quality service.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and service bulletins.
- Proficiency in service management or dealership software (e.g. DockMaster, Lightspeed or similar).
- Certifications from marine manufacturers (e.g. Yamaha, Mercury, Volvo Penta) are a plus.
- Valid driver's license (and boating license if applicable).
