Job Description

A Bell Attendant in Waldorf Astoria provides consistently delivered exceptional customer service to Guests, particularly in relation to the transferring and storing of luggage and assisting with guest queries and general questions. Steering arriving and departing guests in a friendly and courteous manner to and from their guest rooms and acquainting each guest with room and features.

What will I be doing?

The Bell Attendant will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Retrieve guest items from cars, buses, vans and carts; grasp, lift, carry and/or load luggage and packages onto a bell cart to transport items throughout the hotel to designated rooms.
  • Navigate the bell cart through public areas, guest room corridors and to elevators.
  • Escort guests to their rooms, inspecting rooms visually, pointing out room features.
  • Listen and respond to guest inquiries using a clear speaking voice, providing accurate information regarding outlet hours, directions, hotel services, etc.
  • Organize and store luggage as necessary in the storage room.
  • Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome; remain calm and attentive, especially during emergencies.
  • Clean and polish buggies, luggage trolleys and other equipment used in the department.
  • Answer queries from guests, referring them to the appropriate contact points.
  • Ensure a speedy resolution to any problems that may arise on shift.
  • Read and match luggage tags, write claim tickets and detach portions to give to guests.
  • Escort the guest to the room and explain all hotel and room facilities.
  • With a valid UAE driver’s license, may be required to assist with guest transportation by driving the hotel’s limousine with prior approval of management.
What are we looking for?

Bell Attendants serving Hilton Brand hotels are expected to maintain the following attitude, behaviors, skills and values:

  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information.
  • Ability to read English sufficient to ascertain information from luggage tags and claim checks, to write numbers and names on claim checks and rooming lists.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes and luggage up to 50 lbs continuously throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions.
  • Excellent grooming standards.
  • Previous experience as a Bell person.
  • Previous experience working within a hotel.
