About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Specialty Coffee Barista who takes pride in craft coffee, exceptional customer service, and consistent quality. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of specialty coffee standards, espresso extraction, milk texturing, and brewing methods, and enjoys engaging with guests in a welcoming café environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve high-quality specialty coffee beverages (espresso-based drinks, manual brews, cold beverages) to brand standards
- Dial in espresso and maintain consistency throughout service
- Perform milk texturing and latte art to specialty café standards
- Operate and maintain coffee equipment (espresso machines, grinders, brewers)
- Follow proper coffee handling, brewing recipes, and quality control procedures
- Provide warm, knowledgeable, and efficient customer service
- Educate customers on coffee origins, flavor profiles, and brewing methods when appropriate
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, equipment, and workstations
- Comply with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations
- Assist with opening and closing duties, stock rotation, and inventory control
- Work collaboratively with the café team to ensure smooth daily operations
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a specialty coffee barista (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, grind adjustment, and milk steaming
- Familiarity with manual brewing methods (V60, Chemex, Aeropress, batch brew, etc.)
- Passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialty coffee training or certifications (SCA or equivalent)
- Experience with coffee roasting or green coffee knowledge
- Experience working in high-volume or specialty cafés
