Job description

An Assistant Structural Engineering is required to join our team in the Atkins Design Centre Dubai. The successful individual must hold a Structural Engineering degree. The correct individual for this position will have up to 3 years experience.

Position

This is an Assistant Structural Engineer position that will be directly reporting within the team structure to the Lead/Senior Structural Engineer, the Principal Structural Engineer and ultimately the Structural Engineering Design Director. The individual will be responsible for the day‑to‑day delivery of structural engineering solutions that achieve technical compliance with Atkins Design Principles. The individual will be directly responsible for contributing to the technical delivery of Structural Engineering design on projects within the Design Centre - Dubai.

Main Responsibilities
  • Contribution to the technical performance for Structural Engineering design on projects within the Design Centre Dubai.
  • Continual coordination and engagement to maximise the utilisation and contribution of the Atkins Bangalore Centre of Excellence to the delivery of the Design Centre Dubai Structural Engineering design commitments.
  • Monitor the Structural Engineering basis of appointment to ensure that unapproved variations are not introduced to the Structural Engineering design process. In the event of variation, identify the same to the project Lead/Senior Structural Engineer.
  • Collaboration within a multi‑disciplinary project environment to ensure that design solutions are commercially efficient in terms of design effort to complete across all disciplines and do not create risk to Atkins Market Sector/Country Business Units.
Communications and Working Relationships
  • Direct communication/working relationship with partnership and cooperation with fellow Engineers/Architects in Design Centre Dubai and Bangalore Centre of Excellence.
  • Lead/Senior Structural Eng.
Qualifications
  • Recognised degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Technical appreciation/knowledge of Structural Engineering of Building-Type Projects.
  • Minimum of 0‑3 years professional experience.
  • Technical knowledge of Structural Engineering fundamentals.
  • Technical knowledge/appreciation of Structural Engineering with particular reference to Structural Steelwork, Structural Concrete and associated Structural Analysis and Design/Detailing Software.
  • Technical knowledge/appreciation of European and/or US‑based design codes/standards.
  • Aptitude to contribute to the development of elegant Structural Engineering solutions in close collaboration with other specialists and design groups.
  • Willingness to work within multi‑disciplinary design environments.
  • Excellent time management skills.
