Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager will report to the Senior or Lead Project Manager and the client representative at a project level. The incumbent will be based in Abu Dhabi and may be required to travel across the UAE region. The role operates in a collaborative supporting team environment, ensuring client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time and cost targets with appropriate quality, sustainability and safety standards.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills who wants to make a difference to the Project Management division.

Key Attributes and Duties

You will have both precontract and post-contract delivery experience, with an understanding of management, strong interpersonal skills and a core technical skillset, and an understanding of construction with commercial and contractual awareness. You will understand the complexities of large-scale building/infrastructure projects and possess strong relationship management to liaise with clients, sub-contractors and stakeholders. You should be familiar with the end-to-end project delivery lifecycle including design, procurement, permitting, construction and handover processes.

Your success will be demonstrated through the following responsibilities as Assistant Project Manager:

  • Support governance, communication and management control systems to ensure proper delivery of the client’s services and works.
  • Review organization structures and recommend alignment measures.
  • Monitor performance and implement safety or performance improvement measures as needed.
  • Audit compliance with management system requirements and report findings.
  • Identify project risks and actively manage mitigations.
  • Participate in weekly technical and progress meetings.
  • Support client stage gateway reviews and attainment of conditions precedent.
  • Assist in delivering design stage deliverables to schedule and quality, potentially alongside fast-track procurement and permitting requirements.
  • Attend site visits to review HSSE, logistics and progress against the programme.
  • Prepare formal progress reports against baseline, milestones and KPI s.
  • Prepare and present weekly, monthly and ad-hoc progress reports for the Employer’s representative.
  • Support contract management and administration to protect the client’s interests.
  • Assist in timely issuance of invoices and receipts against the contract.
Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or equivalent technical qualification
  • Buildings/infrastructure sector experience
  • Minimum 5–10 years project management experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the Middle East
  • Recognized project management qualification
  • Membership or chartership of a recognized professional body (e.g., RICS)
