Job Description

Position Summary The College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a Gynecologic Oncologist within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be a highly qualified clinician–scientist and educator with advanced expertise in gynecologic oncology, contributing to excellence in specialized patient care, medical education, research, and academic leadership. This position supports UAEU’s mission to advance women’s cancer care, academic medicine, and research aligned with national and international health priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with gynecologic malignancies, including ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers.
  • Perform advanced open, laparoscopic, and/or robotic oncologic surgeries, including complex pelvic and cytoreductive procedures.
  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary gynecologic oncology clinics and tumor boards, collaborating with medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, and palliative care teams.
  • Contribute to the development and expansion of gynecologic oncology services within affiliated teaching hospitals.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards of care, patient safety protocols, and ethical clinical practice.
Teaching and Education
  • Deliver high-quality teaching to medical students, residents, fellows, and postgraduate trainees in Obstetrics & Gynecology and related disciplines.
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment, mentorship, and academic advising.
  • Supervise and mentor trainees in clinical decision-making, surgical skills, and professional development.
  • Contribute to continuing medical education (CME) and professional development initiatives.
Research and Scholarly Activity
  • Establish and maintain a productive research program in gynecologic oncology, cancer prevention, outcomes research, translational science, or clinical trials.
  • Publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international scientific meetings.
  • Secure extramural and intramural research funding, particularly expected at Associate and Full Professor levels.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate, postgraduate, and postgraduate medical trainees in research activities.
Service and Leadership
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committees and academic governance.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, accreditation, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Support community engagement, cancer awareness, screening, and women’s health advocacy programs.
  • At senior ranks, provide clinical and academic leadership in gynecologic oncology service development and research initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution and training program.
  • Board certification (or equivalent) in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology from an accredited program.
  • Eligibility for tier-1 consultant medical licensure in the United Arab Emirates.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical gynecologic oncology practice, teaching, and scholarly activity.
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications, appropriate to academic rank.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in minimally invasive or robotic gynecologic oncology surgery.
  • Active participation or leadership in clinical trials or cancer research programs.
  • Proven ability to obtain research funding and lead multidisciplinary research collaborations.
  • Experience working in academic medical centers and diverse, multicultural environments.
  • Academic leadership experience (particularly for Associate/Full Professor applicants).
