Job Purpose

The successful candidate will manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations, ensure compliance with Sri Lankan tax laws, and support reporting aligned with GAC Group standards. The role is critical in maintaining financial health and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Supplier Reconciliation and Payments
  • Manage supplier reconciliation and payment. Daily approval and submission of agents’ payments to the banking team.
  • Ensure that Party balances are closely monitored, and all entries in the Party statements are reviewed and up to date.
  • Prompt reply to emails queries from port agents.
Proforma and Final Fund Request to Client
  • Finalise the proforma and final CFR in GACship and send the funds request to clients as per their requirements.
  • Follow-up of proforma funds with clients to ensure prompt settlement.
  • Daily approval and submission of payments as per vessel arrival & terms agreed for respective clients.
  • Daily updating or uploading of accounting and banking entries in Dolphin.
  • Run Auto Pset in the system to knock off advances against final DA payment.
  • Prompt reply to emails queries from principals.
  • Follow-up with port agents for final invoices from client or port agents.
Accounting and Treasury Operations
  • Manage daily accounting functions including invoicing, purchase vouchers, cash, bank, journal entries and payroll.
  • Execute payments in the online banking platform. Trade and process FX payments as per clients’ requirements. Assist in preparation of bank guarantees.
  • Handle bank accounts and perform monthly bank reconciliations, booking of FX gain or losses on currency revaluation.
Financial Reporting and Audit
  • Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in line with local and Group requirements.
  • Assist in yearly financial audit/principal audit.
Stakeholder Coordination and Other
  • Liaise with banks, auditors, suppliers and authorities for finance-related matters.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and HQ for cross-departmental requirements.
  • Assist Team Leader or Finance Manager in additional tasks as and when required.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (professional qualifications).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in finance or accounting, with exposure to final accounts and taxation.
  • Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan tax laws and compliance.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software; ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
  • High integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with financial software.
  • Familiarity with GAC Group accounting standards and global reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
