JOB DESCRIPTION

The Account Director is primarily responsible for managing private sector client relationships, identifying strategies that support client objectives, developing communication plans, and managing work activities and resources within agreed budgets. The role involves identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, demonstrating strategic abilities, and possessing strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in transportation, infrastructure, and defense sectors is a plus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and strengthen client relationships, serving as the primary contact.
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic communication plans aligned with client goals.
  • Advise clients on media positioning, engagement strategies, and storytelling opportunities.
  • Craft executive messaging, press releases, thought leadership pieces, speeches, briefing notes, media responses, and stakeholder materials.
  • Support reputation management and media relations by identifying media opportunities, securing coverage, and managing journalist relationships.
  • Ensure alignment of communication outputs with national strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, agency teams, and cross-functional partners to maintain consistent narratives and brand positioning.
  • Coordinate with digital and creative teams to deliver integrated campaigns across traditional and online platforms.
  • Ensure high-quality delivery of client programs in line with APCO's business goals.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, prepare proposals, and lead pitches.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in an agency, consulting firm, corporation, diplomatic post, or media role.
  • Experience working in the private sector is a plus.
  • Experience in transportation, infrastructure, and defense sectors is a plus.
  • Exceptional writing, analytical skills, and experience in stakeholder-focused communications and digital strategy.
  • Solid project management experience.
  • Must reside in Dubai or be willing to relocate.
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed, in accordance with local regulations.
