Job summary

A leading consulting firm in Johannesburg is seeking a Process Engineer to analyse, design, and optimise business processes within the Specialty line of business. In this role, you will translate process designs into structured requirements and work closely with stakeholders to enhance system capabilities. Your responsibilities will also include engaging with various teams to ensure alignment and supporting testing activities during implementation. This position offers a key role in a complex replatforming initiative.

Job description

The Process Engineer will be responsible for analysing, designing, and optimising end-to-end business processes for the Specialty line of business as part of a core systems replatforming initiative. The role ensures that business requirements are clearly defined, future-state processes are fit for purpose, and that process design effectively informs system configuration and delivery.

Key Responsibilities
1. Process Analysis & Design
  • Analyse current-state (as-is) processes across the Specialty line of business.
  • Design future-state (to-be) processes aligned to replatformed system capabilities and business objectives.
  • Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities enabled by the new platform.
2. Requirements Definition & Handover
  • Translate process designs into clear, structured business and functional requirements.
  • Work closely with business SMEs to validate process flows and requirements.
  • Provide clear handover of approved requirements and process artefacts to the Project Manager and delivery teams to support build, testing, and deployment.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Engage with Specialty business stakeholders, technology teams, and vendors to ensure shared understanding of process intent and requirements.
  • Support solution design discussions to ensure alignment between business processes and system capabilities.
  • Respond to requirement clarifications and change impacts during delivery.
4. Delivery & Change Support
  • Support testing activities by validating that system outcomes align to defined processes and requirements.
  • Assist with operational readiness by providing input into training, change, and transition activities.
  • Support refinement of processes based on implementation feedback and lessons learned.
  • Documented current-state and future-state process designs
  • Clearly defined business and functional requirements
  • Requirements handover inputs to delivery teams
  • Process validation support during testing and implementation
  • Continuous improvement and lessons learned inputs
  • Reports into the relevant Process or Change Lead.
  • Works closely with the Project Manager, Specialty business SMEs, technology teams, and change and training resources.
  • Operates within a complex, cross-functional replatforming programme.
