Job description

Our client provides customised debt and capital solutions - including restructuring, turnarounds, equity or debt investing - to companies across Sub‑Saharan Africa that face financial or operational distress. They combine advisory support with flexible capital deployment to stabilise businesses, preserve jobs, and enable long‑term growth rather than short‑term liquidation.

They are looking for a Finance Manager to join their Credit Solutions team!

The Finance Manager will lead the finance function for the Credit Solutions team, combining strong financial control with hands on commercial support. The role requires a qualified CA(SA) out of articles, with exposure to debt instruments and credit portfolios. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and provide insight to support credit and debt related decision making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Control

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheet and profit and loss reporting.
  • Own the month end close process, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Ensure accurate accounting for credit portfolios, impairments and provisions.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain audit ready files.

Credit and Debt Accounting

  • Account for debt instruments and structured credit arrangements.
  • Monitor and report on recoveries, write offs and cash collections.
  • Work closely with credit risk and operations teams to ensure financial data reflects portfolio performance.

Cash Flow and Treasury

  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts linked to credit activity.
  • Monitor working capital, including receivables, payables and provisioning.
  • Support funding and liquidity management related to debt portfolios.

Risk, Compliance and Controls

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and relevant credit and financial regulations.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls across credit finance processes.
  • Identify financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation actions.

Leadership and Business Partnering

  • Manage and develop a small finance team supporting Credit Solutions.
  • Partner with operations, risk, legal and commercial teams to support business decisions.
  • Provide clear financial insight to support pricing, provisioning and credit strategy.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement improvements to finance processes and reporting.
  • Support system enhancements to improve accuracy, efficiency and control.
Qualifications

Required

  • Qualified CA(SA), recently out of articles or with several years post articles experience.
  • Experience or exposure to debt instruments, credit portfolios or financial services.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills.

Advantageous

  • Experience in credit management, collections, or structured finance.
  • Experience working with financial systems and reporting tools.
