Pearson, a global learning company, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 5–8 software engineers building a large‑scale API‑driven platform used worldwide to issue and verify digital credentials.

You’ll guide design discussions, ensure high engineering standards, and partner with Product, Customer Success, and vendors. This role emphasizes people leadership and delivery over writing production code.

Formación

• 5+ years of professional software development experience and 2+ years managing a software team.
• Familiar with Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, PostgreSQL and API management.
• Proven track record delivering reliable software with strong coding and QA standards.
• Excellent collaboration and communication with engineers, stakeholders and vendors.
• Experience onboarding and developing engineers; ability to scale team capability.
• Judgment on when to resolve issues locally or escalate to leadership; continuous learning.

Responsabilidades

• Lead, coach, and support a team of 5–8 engineers, owning well‑being, performance, and output.
• Plan and allocate daily and sprint work; monitor progress against delivery schedules.
• Troubleshoot blockers, clarify requirements, and coordinate handoffs across teams and vendors.
• Triage bugs and production issues with attention to detail to minimize customer disruption.
• Maintain standards of quality, coding/QA practices, code review coverage, and documentation.
• Give real‑time feedback; conduct regular 1:1s; recognize team milestones.
• Own onboarding and skill development for new team members; reduce ramp‑up time.
• Identify process improvements and escalate high‑impact issues to senior leadership.
• Champion responsible use of AI tools for coding, testing, and documentation.
