Job summary

A local educational organization in Singapore is seeking an individual to support at-risk students through planning and implementing engaging programmes. The role involves mentoring, supervising student activities, and fostering positive relationships. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and preferably a diploma in counselling or social work, along with at least 2 years of experience working with children. This position is vital for enhancing the educational outcomes of high needs students.

Qualifications

  • Registered with the Ministry of Education.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children in primary schools.
  • Good working attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Programme planning and implementation to engage High Needs Students.
  • Supervise students during activities.
  • Establish supportive relationships with HNS.
  • Monitor and track student participation.
  • Document observations for feedback.

Job description
Working Hours
  • After School Engagement Programme on selected Wednesdays: 1.00pm to 4.00pm
  • Project SuperSpark (School-based UPLIFT Programme) on selected Fridays: 1.00pm to 4:30pm
Requirement
  • Shall be registered with the Ministry of Education.
  • Should preferably have Diploma in Counselling, Social Work or its equivalent
  • Should preferably have 2 years of experience working with children in primary schools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passion and disposition to work with at‑risk students
  • Empathy for students with social emotional and learning needs
  • Possess good working attitude and be willing to learn, not afraid to take up new challenges.

Key Roles

Will report to HOD/CCE and HOD/PE & CCA.

  • Programme planning and implementation with school staff to engage the identified High Needs Students (HNS). This includes, but is not limited to:
    • i. Academic Support Programme
    • ii. Mentoring Programmes
    • iii. Engagement Programmes
  • Supervise students during activities, ensuring safety and positive interactions.
  • Establish positive and supportive relationships with HNS, offering guidance and mentorship to address their challenges and concerns.
  • Help manage and guide students towards building positive peer relationships and social‑emotional competencies.
  • Monitor and track student participation, following up with school personnel on non‑participation.
  • Document observations as feedback for teachers.
  • Provide academic support as part of re‑integration for students returning to school after long term absences.
  • Share updates and progress on student participation and programme impact for ongoing monitoring and improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to the school’s code of conduct during all activities.
  • Provide evaluations of the programmes, collecting feedback from students.
  • Conduct review of the student engagement programme at the end of the academic year, recommending improvements for future implementation.
  • Any duties assigned by School Leaders, HOD/CCE, HOD/ PE & CCA or Administration Manager.
