Immanuel’s Assistant Youth Minister is a position designed to lead youth programming, relational ministries, worship, and to develop leaders in the youth ministry, primarily at the Boone Campus of Immanuel Church.
The ultimate goal of this position is to lead the youth ministry of Immanuel’s Boone Campus in accordance with God’s will as revealed in Scripture, in Wesleyan / Methodist Doctrine, and in the overall mission, vision, and values of Immanuel Church.
Ministry Responsibilities
- To ensure cohesion within the youth ministry churchwide, the assistant youth minister, in collaboration with the youth minister, is expected to:
- Maintain contact with youth/families throughout the week.
- Assist in the planning and leading of summer and weekend youth programming such as CIY, Kings Island Trips, overnights, mission trips, VBS, etc…
- Provide Godly counsel to youth, parents, and leaders.
- Develop youth, parent, and adult leaders.
- Implement and maintain standards of communication that ensure families, youth, and leaders are properly resourced.
- Vision, plan, organize, implement, and oversee weekly worship and small group experiences for the youth ministry. (ie. Youth Group, Sunday School, Midweek)
- Ensure that Youth Ministry programs and events align with Immanuel’s Family Discipleship Strategy.
- Learn and stay at the forefront of Youth and Family Ministry trends and research.
- Partner with parents and families to have the greatest possible impact on the next generation.
- Preach and/or teach on a regular basis during Youth Ministry programs at the Boone Campus, and occasionally at the Central Campus.
- Provide general oversight to all small group and spiritual formation opportunities for youth including participating in training and supervision of all adult and youth leaders.
- Participate in and support all worship services of Immanuel’s Boone Campus at the direction of the Campus Pastor and Youth Minister.
- Focus on building relationships / connections with middle school and high school students and families.
- Collaborate with the Children’s Ministry Director to ensure a smooth transition between these ministry areas for youth and adult leaders.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Attend regular meetings with the Campus Pastor and Youth Minister for planning, accountability, evaluation, and prayer.
- Support and attend other church-wide events as directed by the Campus Pastor and Youth Minister.
- In cooperation with other administrative staff, receive and oversee youth event registrations.
- Manage the youth ministry budget and appropriate fund-raising endeavors in cooperation with the administrative team and youth minister.
- Maintain current and accurate contact information on the youth, including medical release forms.
- Assist with administrative needs of the program in a professional and timely manner (emails, phone calls, permission forms, organization, event planning, etc.).
- Maintain good communications with youth leaders, parents, and youth about programming through emails, newsletters, letters, and social media.
- Ensure full compliance of the youth ministry with all relevant sections of Immanuel’s “Guardians of Trust Policy” (for child abuse prevention), including formal background checks for all regular adult leaders of the youth ministry.
