The Trainee position is a training opportunity in research conducted by investigators at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Project Description: The Characterizing the heat stress exposome to assess acute kidney injury in NYC runners is a Community Based Participatory Research project funded by NIEHS. The project seeks to understand personal exposures by capturing heat and air pollution while running. We aim to assess whether subclinical recurring kidney injury occurs among runners participating in intensive outdoor training, and are environmental conditions associated. This is important as recurrent AKI is a strong risk factor for early onset kidney disease.

We are looking for graduate students interested in working with us:

• Conducting literature reviews for publication
• Help coordinate with participants to collect biological and environmental samples
• Analyzing surveillance data and other chemical safety information.

Students with satisfactory performance will be considered to continue work under projects budget during Spring 2023.

The Trainee position requires a flexible and solutions-oriented individual who is capable of delving into projects to support team goals. The position may require Mount Sinai certification for IRB/HIPPA training, data security and others as appropriate. Specific skills will be taught.

Work Details: This position can be completed as a combination of remote and in-person. The expected start date is January 2023, with approximately 20 hours of work expected per week. The maximum hours associated with the position is 600 hours, and hours are determined by the Graduate Program in Public Health, in agreement with the Supervisor and Student Financial Services. The RA appointment ends August 31, 2023 at the latest. The start date and work schedule should be discussed with the Supervisor and Graduate Program.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $29,326.66 - $78,219.09 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
