The Company
Aramco Trading was established as Saudi Aramco’s trading arm in 2011 under the approval of Saudi Aramco’s Board of Directors. It is headquartered in Al‑Midra Tower, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and has six offices worldwide, including London, America, Singapore, Dubai and Fujairah. The company is recognized globally as a critical trading partner for refiners, shipping companies, financial institutions, end‑users and other product‑trading companies. It trades across the barrel, including Crude, Middle and Light distillates, bulk petrochemicals and polyolefin.
The Function
Responsible for physical and paper trading activities and operations within approved risk and resource limits; supports the execution of the trading desk’s strategy and its related tasks; accountable for the trades and the impact to the profit and loss of the book as well as managing the associated risks with the trades.
Key Accountabilities
- Review and adhere to trading strategy on a daily basis
- Monitor and adjust position based on risk and trading limits
- Make trading decisions to maximise returns within company’s policies and procedures
- Decide and negotiate deals; validate them with Operations, Contract Administration and Settlement
- Input transactions and ship requests in the ETRM system abiding by established procedures and manuals
- Identify and correct mapping P&L and exposures in the ETRM system
- Evaluate all open trading contracts and positions; identify the associated price exposures and develop a daily plan to hedge existing exposures with the derivatives desk
- Identify requirements for chartering and create ship requests in the ETRM system
- Keep up‑to‑date on market information and knowledge management, and reflect market insights in trading strategies and positions
- Develop and mark all physical forward curves related to the product, provide price information to Strategy and Business Development Manager, and Supply Optimisation Specialist
- Provide market and counter‑party insight for the counter‑party enlistment process
- Perform price discovery and provide data for the more liquid portion of the price curve of forward curves
- Work closely with the product’s scheduler/operations to ensure smooth logistics and operations for the traded product
- Check trades and confirmations to ensure accuracy
- Send new counter‑party requests to Compliance Desk and support registration with proper documentation
- Prepare market reports, business plans and performance targets as required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics or a related discipline
- More than 3 years of direct experience in physical trading
- Well‑informed of the world product demand and supply, market dynamics, and arbitrage opportunities
- Well‑connected with end‑users and counterparties worldwide
- Industry knowledge: supply/demand fundamentals of physical market, product grades and quality specifications, transportation and pipeline infrastructure, competitors, marine operations, third‑party system parameters, standard terms and conditions of contracts, and knowledge of the global energy business
- Trading knowledge: market direction, call, trading strategies, trading fundamentals, global markets, arbitrage, market climate, keeps up to date with international events and geopolitical climate
- Financial trading knowledge: risk analysis techniques, hedging / speculative / price forecasting instruments (derivatives, futures, options, OTC, and various credit instruments), economic evaluation and analysis, understands concepts such as NPV, value creation, and option value
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, trading system and price reporting software (Reuters, Bloomberg, Globalview)
