Job description
Responsibilities
  • Classification & Documentation: Prepare, review, and maintain all style information and product data required to support HS classification of merchandise and compliance with import/export laws.
  • Trade Operations Oversight: Monitor and coordinate with freight forwarders, distribution centers, transportation providers, and customers (local and overseas) to resolve shipping discrepancies (e.g., quantity, carton, seal, or manifest issues).
  • Risk & Issue Management: Gather, assess, and escalate information on trade risks, compliance issues, and product/project status.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to global trade laws, with a strong emphasis on APAC regional requirements.
  • Process & Policy Development: Create, update, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in the import/export process.
  • Compliance Reporting: Prepare, file, and maintain compliance reports for leadership and regulatory agencies.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a compliance advisor by consulting with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and leadership on regulatory matters.
  • Government Liaison: Communicate with customs authorities and government agencies regarding compliance matters, including strategic permit applications, renewals, and audits.
  • Training & Awareness: Design and deliver employee training programs on compliance policies, trade regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Audits & Investigations: Identify, investigate, and resolve compliance irregularities, violations, and audit findings; recommend corrective actions.
  • Data & Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance records, databases, and reporting systems.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the company’s trusted advisor on trade compliance matters, providing insights to reduce risk exposure and support business objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP) preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the field of compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of global trade compliance regulations, import/export controls, and customs procedures.
