Job description

The Therapy Assistant is to provide assistance to therapists in clinical, administrative and technical duties and to assist in the supervision of Healthcare Assistants.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Assist the therapist in setting up patients on therapeutic equipment.
  2. All necessary equipment required by therapist are prepared before gym or therapy session start.
  3. Assist the therapist in setting up / supervising / assisting patients in the performance of therapeutic activities / exercises.
  4. Pass of initial competency evaluation during probation and annual clinical competency re-evaluation.
  5. Assist the therapist in the fabrication of orthosis / devices necessary for rehabilitation
  6. Pass of initial competency during probation and annual clinical competency re-evaluation.
  7. Tidy therapy area and assist with cleaning duties.
  8. Therapeutic area is neat and tidy after therapy sessions, all used equipment are disinfected thoroughly and neatly kept in original location. Monthly inventory checks of equipment.
  9. Arrange portering of patients to and from the department for therapy, and porter patients if necessary.
  10. Arrangement of Porter list and patient flow are well coordinated.
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Handle enquiries, answer phone calls, record and convey messages.
  2. Able to handle enquiries, answer phone calls, record and convey massages independently.
  3. Perform photocopying, binding, filing and distribution of documents and forms
  4. Weekly check to ensure sufficient supply of Patient Information Leaflets (PILs) and other relevant forms.
  5. Perform basic data entry and data retrieval using relevant computer programmes.
  6. Daily patient statistics and daily Porter list are well collaborated in computer.
  7. Maintain therapeutic equipment and devices.
  8. Therapeutic equipment and devices are well maintained according to schedule. Arrange for repair when necessary or arrange condemnation processes if equipment or devices are no longer safe to use. Order and receive consignment items supplies.
