Overview

As a Test Architect, you will lead the evolution of testing within the mobile connectivity development teams, driving a shift from manual testing to a robust, efficient, and scalable automation-first framework. You will ensure a sharable, reusable test ecosystem that serves internal R&D programs.

Responsibilities

• Test Environment Analysis: Build a deep understanding of the current manual test setup, scripts, test flows, data, and execution environments for internal products, including device, simulator, HIL, and lab infrastructure.
• Tool & Framework Assessment: Identify, evaluate, and recommend suitable tools and technologies (open-source and commercial) for test automation, API testing, mobile/UI testing, performance testing, and security testing; define selection criteria (capability, scalability, maintainability, cost, license).
• Test Framework Design: Architect, propose, and implement a modular automation framework (e.g., Robot Framework, PyTest, JUnit) with clear layering (test libraries, fixtures, data, environments) and reusable packages for software development teams.
• Ensure compatibility and integration with existing tools; standardize test data management, service virtualization/mocking, and environment provisioning (e.g., Docker/Kubernetes).
• Integrate the framework with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines to enable gated builds, parallel execution, and rich reporting (dashboards, flakiness tracking, trend analysis).
• Process Optimization: Introduce shift-left testing, the test pyramid, and risk-based testing; automate regressions, smoke suites, and compliance checks; define quality gates (code coverage, SAST/DAST results, performance baselines).
• Cross-Team Coordination: Partner with various teams within the organisation to align on test strategy, traceability (requirements ↔ tests ↔ defects), and handover processes; consolidate gaps and deliver practical, unified test solutions.
• Implementation & Adoption: Lead PoCs, rollout, and continuous improvement; create playbooks, templates, and training to accelerate adoption; mentor engineers and establish governance for contributions and versioning.
• Quality & Compliance: Ensure the framework supports compliance (e.g., Common Criteria, GSMA standards, GlobalPlatform/ISO smart card standards) and project quality objectives; enable evidence capture and audit-ready reports.
• Reporting: Define KPIs/SLIs (e.g., automation coverage, pass rate, flake rate, MTTD/MTTR, escaped defects, cycle time) and publish regular updates to management and stakeholders.

Must Have Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 5 years in software/hardware testing, with at least 3 years in test architecture or test automation leadership.
• Technical Skills:
• Automation frameworks: Robot Framework, PyTest/JUnit/TestNG, Selenium/Cypress/Playwright(web),
• Appium/Espresso/XCUITest (mobile).
• Programming/Scripting: Python, Java (or similar);
• CI/CD/CT & DevOps: Jenkins (declarative pipelines/shared libraries), GitLab CI/GitHub Actions, artifact repos (Nexus/Artifactory), Git workflows (PR/MR, code review).
• API & integration testing: REST/gRPC (Postman, REST Assured), contract testing, service virtualization/mocking.
• Performance & reliability: JMeter, k6, Locust; test data generation; chaos/failover testing where applicable.
• Security & quality: SAST/DAST (SonarQube, CodeQL, OWASP ZAP/Burp), dependency/SBOM scanning, fuzz testing.

Good-to-have Job Requirements

• Programming/Scripting: Visual Basic, Bash/PowerShell.
• Environments & observability: Linux, Docker/Kubernetes, logs/metrics/traces (ELK/EFK, Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
• Domain: eSIM/eUICC/eSE, GlobalPlatform, ISO/IEC 7816/14443, NFC, Java Card, cryptography, protocolanalyzers, HIL/simulators, mobile device test labs.
