Job description
ROLE OVERVIEW

Lead the strategic direction and operational execution of our technology infrastructure, directly supporting alpha generation, risk management, and operational efficiency. The Technology Manager will bridge the gap between investment teams and technology, ensuring our systems provide competitive advantage in trade execution, data analysis, and portfolio management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Trading Technology: Lead the design, development, and ongoing management of the Order Management System (OMS), Execution Management System (EMS) and Portfolio Management System (PMS), ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and alignment with business objectives.
  2. Investment Technology: Oversee data science infrastructure supporting quantitative research and machine learning initiatives. Develop and implement emerging technologies (AI/ML, blockchain, cloud-native architectures) for alpha generation and portfolio optimisation. Work with Investment team to identify technical solutions for projects.
  3. Architecture and Design: Design and implement system architectures, ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Lead the design of data pipelines for market data, alternative data sources, and fundamental research datasets.
  4. Data Governance: Implement robust data governance frameworks ensuring data quality, lineage, and security.
  5. Infrastructure & Operations: Manage cloud and on-premise infrastructure with emphasis on security, scalability, and cost optimization. Oversee cybersecurity posture, including threat detection, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance.
  6. Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with technology vendors (market data providers, prime brokerage tech, cloud services). Develop and manage the technology budget, optimizing spend across projects.
  7. Regulatory & Compliance: Implement and maintain systems supporting regulatory reporting, trade surveillance, and audit trails. Collaborate with compliance and legal teams on technology-related regulatory matters.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
  1. Master's degree in Computer Science, Communication Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields*: A strong foundation in computer science, software engineering, or information technology is essential.
  2. Relevant certifications: Certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Developer, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) can be beneficial.
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. 2-3 years of experience in technology: A Technical Lead/Senior Technical Manager typically has at least 1 year of experience in technology, with a focus on software development, cloud computing, data analytics, develop automated scripts or cybersecurity.
  2. 2-5 years of experience in finance or hedge funds: Experience in the finance or hedge fund industry is highly desirable, with a focus on technology roles such as quantitative analysis, risk management, or trading platform development.
  3. Leadership and management experience: have experience managing technical teams, leading projects, and mentoring junior staff members.
  4. Strong technical skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, MySQL or MATLAB, as well as experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  5. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
