Working Hour: Mon - Fri (4 - 5 hours a day)
Duration: 2 to 3 months.
Salary: $12 - $14 per hour
Responsibilities (Key areas of Responsibilities):
Assessment
Physically inspect each item to assess its condition for usability (e.g., working, damaged, missing parts, needs maintenance).
Organization
Group similar items and accessories into logical categories (e.g., by brand, function, or project type).
Cataloguing
Accurately record detailed information for each item, including but not limited to:
- Item name and model number.
- Manufacturer.
- Serial number.
- Condition.
- A brief description of its function.
- Associated accessories or components.
- Location (building, room, cabinet).
Barcoding
Print and affix barcodes to each item in a consistent and secure manner.
Documentation
Maintain clear and concise records of all catalogued items in the designated database or spreadsheet.
Requirements
Technical Aptitude
- Familiarity with a wide range of instructional technologies, including robotics kits (e.g., LEGO Mindstorms, VEX Robotics), educational technology devices, electronics tools, 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and their accessories.
- Ability to quickly learn about new and unfamiliar technologies as they are encountered.
- Basic troubleshooting skills to assess the functionality and usability of equipment.
Organizational and Detail-Oriented Skills
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cataloguing and data entry.
- Excellent organizational skills to categorize items logically and maintain a tidy workspace.
- Ability to work systematically through a large inventory of items.
Physical Dexterity
- Ability to lift and move equipment of varying sizes and weights (within safety guidelines).
- Comfort with handling delicate electronic components and tools.
Data Management and Software Proficiency
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data entry and manipulation.
- Experience with or a quick ability to learn inventory management software or database systems.
- Comfortable using barcode scanners and associated software.
Communication Skills
- Clear and effective communication skills to report progress and any issues to the project supervisor.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other team members.
Preferred, but not required, Skills
- Experience with library or archival science principles.
- Prior experience in a lab, workshop, or educational technology environment.
- Knowledge of various operating systems and software used with the technologies (e.g., slicer software for 3D printers, control software for CNC machines).
- A background in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
