Job description
The Role

This role leads and manages the APAC Accounting Team and is responsible for the region’s management reporting, statutory reporting and compliance, including tax filings and other statutory submissions. It works directly with various business and corporate stakeholders to ensure accurate financial and statutory reporting for the region. The role also ensures compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements by developing, maintaining documentation and processes related to accounting activities and controls. The role is based in Singapore and reports into the Global Assistant Financial Controller with a dotted line to the Head of APAC Finance.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the proper and accurate accounting for revenue, network expenses, opex, capital, fixed assets, leases etc.
  • Ensuring a timely month‑end closing, including all journal entries are posted correctly, and the financial results are accurate and complete. Working with Corporate and Global accounting teams as required.
  • Report the APAC region’s results to the Global Controller including preparing detailed commentary.
  • Plan and oversee the preparation of local statutory financial statements and other filings, ensuring that all filings’ deadlines are met.
  • Own the relationship with statutory external auditors including audit planning, working with auditors to ensure audits are completed in a timely manner.
  • Work with the APAC Tax and Legal teams to ensure all tax filings are completed and compliance obligations are met.
  • Work with business and corporate stakeholders on any ad hoc projects as required.
  • Implement process improvements and identify opportunities to infuse AI and automation into the accounting processes.
  • Build and maintain a positive team culture that is consistent with Lumen’s eight behaviors.
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • 10‑12+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience, including experience managing accounting teams for large multinational corporations and/or experience working at large public accounting firm.
  • 6+ years of experience managing staff, with a proven track record of developing staff and building and maintaining a positive team culture.
  • Proven track record of process improvement, including use of AI and/or automation.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS. Experienced in preparing local financial statements across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with local GAAP.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with the ability to analyze complex accounting issues and make recommendations.
  • Must have the ability to interact with stakeholders, including C‑level executives, FP&A, North America Accounting/Finance, legal, tax, operations and external auditors.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written skills.
  • Accounting degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
  • Qualified Accountant, e.g. CPA, CA, CIMA, etc.
  • SAP and Blackline experience preferred.
  • Location – Required to be based in Singapore. Must have a valid work permit to work in Singapore.
