Job summary

A leading culinary establishment in Singapore is seeking a dedicated kitchen assistant to support the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of related experience and possess culinary qualifications. Responsibilities include ensuring food quality and standards, monitoring inventory, and maintaining cleanliness. Fluency in English and Mandarin is preferred, and flexibility to work during peak times is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years related experience in culinary operations.
  • Familiar with Oriental cuisine and some knowledge of international cuisine.
  • Must be able to work during peak times including weekends and public holidays.

Job description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To assist and support Head chef to oversee the kitchen operation
  • Ensure proper purchasing, receiving and ingredient storage standards in kitchen
  • Responsible for monitoring food quality & consistency and ensure that food presented to our guest is of the highest quality
  • Constantly assess freshness, presentation and temperature of food served
  • Ensure food portioning, serving and ingredient purchases are controlled, aligned with our standard operating procedures in order to minimize wastage
  • Enforce the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in the kitchen
  • Ensure that all perishable item are stored quickly and efficiently, and all items are utilized completely to avoid wastage
  • Ensure ingredients are always fresh and within its expiry date
  • Prevent the use of spoiled or contaminated products in any phase of food preparation
  • Do any other ad-hoc tasks given
Requirements
  • Must be flexible and able to work during our peak times including weekends and public holidays.
  • Possess professional certificate/NITEC/Culinary qualifications.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience.
  • Familiar with Oriental Cuisine, and some knowledge on international cuisine.
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin preferred.
  • Passion for food, creative and teamwork.
