Position: Site Engineer (Mechanical & Piping)
Functional Group: Project Execution
Job Summary
We seek a competent and safety-focused Mechanical & Piping Site Engineer to lead the flawless field execution of mechanical and piping systems for a major natural gas project in Singapore. You will apply your technical expertise and supervisory skills to coordinate complex construction activities in a live plant environment, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
Responsibilities
- Lead supervision and inspection of mechanical equipment and piping system installation, alignment, testing, and pre‑commissioning to ensure compliance with project specifications and approved engineering drawings (P&IDs, Isometrics, GAs).
- Review, approve, and enforce contractor Method Statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and work procedures to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Monitor and report daily contractor work progress, quality, and productivity through detailed progress reports.
- Resolve technical and engineering issues onsite by collaborating with design offices and vendors to maintain project momentum.
- Conduct systematic inspections of materials, fabrication, welding, and installation work to uphold quality assurance standards.
- Witness and authorize critical tests including hydrostatic, pneumatic, leak, and equipment functional tests to validate system integrity.
- Manage non‑conformance reports (NCRs) and coordinate timely corrective actions to ensure compliance and project quality.
- Maintain accurate quality records, test packs, and as‑built documentation for project traceability and audit readiness.
- Enforce strict adherence to site safety protocols, Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) systems, and Singapore’s Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act to promote a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety and workmanship inspections to identify and mitigate risks proactively.
- Coordinate cross‑disciplinary construction activities (Civil, Structural, E&I) to ensure seamless workflow and effective interface management.
- Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and equipment vendors to facilitate clear communication and project alignment.
- Support lifting and heavy‑lift operations by reviewing and providing input on contractors’ lift plans and rigging studies for major equipment installation.
- Participate in pre‑lift meetings to offer practical mechanical insights and supervise mechanical aspects of lifts to ensure proper equipment preparation, support, and landing.
- Collaborate with certified Lifting Supervisors to maintain compliance with lifting safety regulations and procedures.
Required Competencies and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on site engineering experience in mechanical and piping construction within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or related heavy industries.
- Robust understanding of construction sequencing, heavy equipment handling, and interface management.
- Competent in reading isometric, general arrangement, and P&ID drawings.
- Proficient in mechanical/piping codes (ASME, API).
