Job description

As the Senior Technical Security Project Manager, you will provide leadership and direction for the region’s security technology operations program. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of physical security systems, ensuring optimal protection of people, assets, and facilities. In this role, you will lead multiple teams of consultants and vendors, support global , regional and program-level initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry requirements. Serving as a key advisor to security leadership, you will be accountable for being an ambassador of the Global Security Technology Operations strategy and mission, aligned with global and regional business objectives and goals, while enabling a culture of security across the region.

Overall Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of physical security projects across the regional footprint, e nsuring consistency, adherence to global design engineering standards (DEG), exclusive use of the Approved Product List (APL), and compliance with all company physical security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of consultants, and security integrators, ensuring these teams represent the organization’s interests throughout all phases of project design and implementation.
  • Build strategic partnerships with cross-functional leadership, including Operations, IT, Global Facilities, Cyber Security, and Risk Management, to enable holistic security solutions.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all technical security tools and processes, including access control systems, video management platforms, perimeter security controls, intrusion detection, and related security technologies, providing guidance on best practices, solution design, and system integration
Project Management and Reporting
  • Oversee, review, and approve security system designs, technical specifications, and construction documents provided by consultants and security integrators, ensuring alignment with project requirements, organizational standards, and the commissioning, testing, and operational handover of security systems
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate new installations and retrofit projects and system upgrades by directing third‑party consultants and local teams, and collaborating closely with global teams to ensure standards are fully integrated within design engineering requirements.
  • Employ effective project management techniques to prioritize, coordinate, and oversee multiple complex technology deployments and new security initiatives simultaneously.
  • Lead regional risk assessments, physical security technology gap analysis, and provide management‑level reporting on physical security risks and mitigation progress.
  • Analyze technology trends, emerging threats, and industry best practices to partner with security leadership and inform the enhancement of physical security programs and solutions.
  • Manage all internal and external project communication
  • Monitor project progress, adjust as necessary, and review work quality regularly
Documentation and Compliance
  • Develop, review, and maintain all project documentation, including scopes of work, requirements, as‑built drawings, and acceptance criteria, throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assure all project documentation is complete and delivered to Digital Realty at handover, including updated technical drawings, maintenance information, and as‑builds.
  • Ensure all physical security projects meet relevant regulatory and industry requirements, including ISO 27001, PCI, and SOC2 standards.
Budget Management
  • Monitor, track, and report on project‑related Capex and Opex, maintaining adherence to budgetary constraints and financial approval processes, and identifying opportunities for cost savings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency of physical security technology and systems across the organization’s global footprint. Support initiatives to update and improve global design engineering standards (DEG), the approved product list (APL).
  • Seek feedback and conduct post‑project reviews to ensure customer satisfaction and enhance the overall security posture.
General
  • Support cross‑functional and global projects ensuring effective collaboration with other departments.
  • Maintain a continuous supportive role to the Senior Manager of Security and Compliance by undertaking any tasks requested to support business priorities and direction.
  • Execute other duties and strategic projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, with regulatory bodies, and in partner forums.
Commissioning, handover and testing
  • Confirm the highest of quality of completed work by consultants and security integrators to make certain that all technical standards and requirements are met following installations.
  • Coordinate activities of consultant and their subcontractors after commissioning to address outstanding issues and ensure successful project closure.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, security management, IT, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of security technology program and project management leadership experience in a data center or technology environment, with a global or multi‑country scope.
  • Proven experience with the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise‑grade physical security solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead 3rd party vendors and a complex portfolio of projects.
  • Strong understanding of physical security industry policies, standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Advanced project/program management certification (e.g., PMP, PgMP, MSP), preferred.
  • Recognized security certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP) preferred.
  • Current user certifications with AMAG and/or Lenel is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam and all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and influencing skills; able to interact effectively with regional leaders and other senior, global stakeholders.
  • Deep knowledge of industry standards, security technologies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong business acumen and results‑oriented approach.
  • Problem‑solving and critical thinking skills to address security challenges and project obstacles.
  • Relationship‑building skills to facilitate collaboration with cross‑functional, regional, and global teams.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility, thriving in dynamic and fast‑changing environments.
