We are seeking an experienced Senior Sustainability Lead to drive our green certification initiatives across our real estate portfolio. This role requires a technical professional with mechanical or electrical engineering background who can manage complex sustainability projects while ensuring compliance with mainstream green building standards and optimizing overall system efficiency.
Green Certification Management – Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of green building certification programs including LEED, BREEAM, Green Mark, and other regional sustainability standards. Oversee certification processes from design phase through post‑occupancy verification, ensuring projects meet or exceed target certification levels. Coordinate with external certification bodies, consultants, and auditors to streamline approval processes and maintain certification compliance across the portfolio.
Technical System Optimization – Apply mechanical and electrical engineering expertise to evaluate and optimize building system performance for energy efficiency, water conservation, and environmental impact reduction. Conduct technical assessments of HVAC, lighting, power distribution, and renewable energy systems to identify improvement opportunities. Develop technical specifications and performance criteria that align with sustainability objectives while maintaining operational effectiveness.
Strategic Program Development – Develop comprehensive sustainability strategies that integrate green certification requirements with business objectives and regulatory compliance. Establish key performance indicators and monitoring systems to track progress against sustainability goals. Create standardized processes and best practices for green certification across multiple properties and development projects.
Stakeholder Collaboration – Partner with project management teams, architects, engineers, contractors, and facility management to embed sustainability principles throughout the project lifecycle. Provide technical guidance and training to internal teams on green building standards and system efficiency requirements. Interface with clients, tenants, and regulatory bodies to communicate sustainability initiatives and ensure alignment with stakeholder expectations.
Technical Background – Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline with 7+ years of experience in building systems and sustainability. Professional engineering license preferred. Demonstrated expertise in building performance analysis, energy modeling, and system commissioning.
Green Certification Expertise – Professional certification in at least one major green building standard (LEED AP, BREEAM Assessor, Green Mark Manager, or equivalent). Extensive experience managing green certification projects from inception through completion. Deep understanding of green building rating systems, documentation requirements, and performance verification processes.
System Efficiency Knowledge – Strong foundation in building system efficiency principles including energy management, HVAC optimization, lighting design, and renewable energy integration. Experience with building automation systems, energy monitoring platforms, and performance measurement tools. Knowledge of utility programs, energy codes, and efficiency regulations.
Master's degree in Sustainable Engineering, Energy Management, or related field.
Multiple green building certifications across different rating systems.
Experience with emerging sustainability frameworks such as WELL Building Standard, Living Building Challenge, or net‑zero certification programs.
Background in real estate development, facility management, or consulting services.
Technical problem‑solving with ability to analyze complex building systems and identify efficiency improvements.
Project management skills with experience leading cross‑functional teams and managing multiple certification timelines.
Strong communication abilities to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences including executives, engineers, and external stakeholders.
Data analysis capabilities to interpret energy performance metrics and sustainability reporting requirements.
This role offers the opportunity to shape sustainability strategy across a significant real estate portfolio while applying technical expertise to drive measurable environmental impact and operational efficiency improvements.
