Job Title: Senior Manager – R&D (TBR Tyres)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Manager – R&D (TBR Tyres) to lead the design, development, and industrialization of Truck & Bus Radial (TBR) tyres. The role involves end-to-end responsibility for product development, including mould design and management, coordination with mould manufacturers, collaboration with contract manufacturers, and overseeing testing and production readiness.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in tyre engineering, proven project management skills, and the ability to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and high-quality product launches.

Key Responsibilities

Product Design & Development

• Lead the design and development of TBR tyres in line with market requirements, performance targets, and company strategy.

• Develop new tread patterns, compounds, constructions, and tyre specifications.

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards.

Mould Development & Management

• Manage the complete mould development process, including:

  • Specification and design of tyre moulds

  • Coordination with external mould manufacturers

  • Review and approval of mould drawings and technical documents

• Monitor mould manufacturing timelines, quality, and costs.

• Ensure moulds meet design and production requirements.

Contract Manufacturing & Production Setup

• Work closely with contract manufacturing partners to:

  • Install and set up moulds

  • Establish production parameters

  • Support trial runs and pilot production

• Resolve technical issues during tooling, setup, and mass production.

• Ensure smooth transfer from development to commercial production.

Testing & Validation

• Plan and oversee laboratory and field testing of tyres.

• Analyze test results and recommend design or process improvements.

• Ensure products meet performance, durability, and safety benchmarks.

Project & Stakeholder Management

• Lead R&D projects from concept to commercialization.

• Coordinate with internal teams (Quality, Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing).

• Liaise with suppliers, testing agencies, and technical partners.

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Monitor market trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies.

• Drive continuous improvement in design, materials, and processes.

• Promote innovation in tyre performance, cost optimization, and sustainability.

Team Leadership

• Build, mentor, and manage the R&D team.

• Set performance goals and provide technical guidance.

• Foster a culture of quality, innovation, and accountability.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

• Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in tyre R&D, preferably in TBR tyres.

• Proven experience in tyre design, mould development, and industrialization.

• Hands-on experience working with mould manufacturers and contract manufacturing facilities.

• Strong background in tyre testing and validation processes.

Technical Skills

• In-depth knowledge of TBR tyre construction, compounds, and manufacturing processes.
