Job description

Salling Search is currently assisting an international shipping company to look for a Senior Legal Counsel for their Singapore office.

Only candidates with the following experience and qualifications will be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice to internal teams and coordinate with external counsel to maintain legal standards across all business initiatives.
• Handle legal matters related to maritime and admiralty law, especially in cross-border or industry-specific contexts.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and corporate agreements.
• Support investment and M&A activities, including due diligence, structuring, and documentation.
• Collaborate with business units to manage legal risks, regulatory compliance, and operational alignment.
• Contribute to compliance efforts, corporate governance, and special legal projects as needed.

Key Requirements

• Law degree (preferably in Maritime Law or equivalent) with at least 8 years’ legal experience.
• Background in commodities, maritime, shipping, or infrastructure sectors is advantageous.
• Proven strength in drafting, negotiation, legal analysis, and contract management.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational abilities, with capacity to juggle multiple projects under pressure.
• Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin is required to liaise effectively with Chinese stakeholders.
