As a Senior Laboratory Information System Officer (North), you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Provides both technical and administrative IT support to the Laboratory Medicine and Pathology departments.

• Supports the laboratory management team in implementing organisational and departmental policies, and in overseeing the end-to-end testing workflow, including pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes.

• Maintain strong operational knowledge of laboratory information systems, laboratory equipment software, and other relevant applications used within the laboratory.

• Optimise information systems to support laboratory operations in achieving established performance indicators.

• Support the implementation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of the Laboratory Information System (LIS), including test reconciliation across multiple system interfaces.

• Provide IT and system support to all laboratory sections to ensure turnaround time targets are met, including technical assistance during system breakdowns and downtime.

• Ensure compliance with organisational policies, work instructions, and guidelines, and collaborate with the Head of Clinical Laboratory and reporting officers on disciplinary matters where necessary.

• Ensure all IT-related incidents are properly reported, assist in investigations, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

• Maintain the laboratory intranet, dashboards, and in-house developed software or applications to ensure optimal functionality.

• Conduct training, competency assessments, and supervision for medical laboratory technologists and medical officers, where applicable.

• Prepare, review, and update documentation, including policies, work instructions, bench guides, and forms.

• Identify and troubleshoot major system issues, and determine when escalation to the Head of Clinical Laboratory or Head of Service is required.

• Any other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Recognized Degree in Medical Technology / Biomedical Science or related Life Science field.
