A healthcare institution in Singapore is seeking a Fire Safety Manager to develop and implement fire and workplace safety measures. This role also involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations, emergency preparedness, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate should have a degree in facilities management and 8–10 years of relevant experience, along with certifications as a Fire Safety Manager and Workplace Safety Officer. The incumbent ensures that fire and workplace safety are embedded into the hospital’s infrastructure and workflows from the earliest planning stages. This role mitigates regulatory delays, costly retrofits, workplace hazards, and reputational risk by integrating compliance, resilience, and safe design principles. The role also supports hospital emergency preparedness, ensuring infrastructure, policies, and systems enable effective crisis response.
Develop, implement, and oversee the hospital’s Fire Safety Management Plan.
Review building designs for SCDF fire code compliance, including compartmentation, smoke control, egress routes, suppression systems, and fire detection.
Liaise with contractors, consultants, and SCDF during design reviews to secure approvals efficiently.
Plan and conduct fire drills, training, and awareness campaigns.
Draft and maintain fire safety policies aligned with hospital operations.
Ensure infrastructure supports long‑term WSH compliance and safe operations.
Review layouts for high‑risk departments (CSSD, kitchens, loading docks, engineering plant rooms, logistics flows) to reduce hazards.
Validate ergonomic, well‑ventilated, and safe environments for staff well‑being and productivity.
Oversee placement of signage, barriers, safety controls, and fall‑prevention measures.
Draft and implement workplace safety policies in line with MOM regulations.
Support development of strategies, policies, and training programs for hospital‑wide emergency preparedness.
Review infrastructure plans to ensure resilient emergency response, including command centers, evacuation routes, refuge points, backup power, and communication systems.
Conduct readiness reviews with design and facilities teams to embed resilience pre‑commissioning.
Support testing and alignment of the hospital’s Emergency Response Plan.
Serve as liaison with SCDF, MOM, MOH, and other authorities for compliance and licensing approvals.
Provide assurance that fire, safety, and preparedness are integrated from project inception.
Maintain compliance documentation to support licensing, commissioning, and day‑one readiness.
Strong influencing, communication, and presentation skills; able to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Analytical, detail‑oriented, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Calm, decisive, and resilient under pressure; strong problem‑solving and risk‑based decision‑making skills.
Proactive, resourceful, discreet, and able to work independently or in cross‑functional teams.
SCDF‑registered Fire Safety Manager (FSM) certification and MOM‑registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) required.
Bachelor’s degree in facilities management with 8–10 years’ relevant experience in healthcare facility management.
Strong understanding of building codes, fire safety systems, WSH standards, and emergency preparedness frameworks.
Proven ability to manage compliance risks, engage stakeholders, and align infrastructure with safety outcomes.
