What is the role?

Yinson Electric Pte Ltd is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our marine division (“marinEV”) to develop exciting products for electric vessels and charging infrastructure. The successful candidate will have a proactive work attitude with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a wide range of complex and time sensitive tasks. We are looking for someone with a strong interest / experience in emerging green technologies related to electrification, power electronics, battery, propulsion and power management system.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and detailed engineering of electrical systems, power electronics, automation and control system for electric vessel projects.
  • Work with the team to deliver state of the art vessel management system and control helm fit for a futuristic electric vessel.
  • Carry out technical and commercial evaluation of vendor proposals based on established criteria for the project to finalise equipment selection.
  • Manage OEM vendors and contractors from contract award to equipment commissioning onboard the vessel to ensure the scope is successfully delivered on time and within budget.
  • Technical lead on matters related to electrical, control and power electronics engineering including electric propulsion system, energy storage, Power and Battery Management System (PMS / BMS), vessel management system, sensors, charging infrastructure etc.
  • Work with engineering contractors and OEM vendors to develop optimal solution within the project’s schedule and budget constraints.
  • Deliver specifications, schematics, scope of work and other related documents necessary to manage engineering contractors and OEM vendors.
  • Develop remote and autonomous operation features within the vessel including sensor selection, data monitoring / analytics and setup of a shore operation base.
  • Proactively manage the interfaces of the project to ensure relevant inputs are received timely for incorporation into the design. This involves good coordination with all stakeholders including but not limited to project team, shipyard, vendors, contractors, Class and regulatory authorities.
  • Assist troubleshooting during construction, mechanical completion and commissioning phase of the project.
  • Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging technology, improvements and absorbing new practices from the market.
  • Other tasks as requested by the Engineering Manager and or Project Manager.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in a technical subject.
  • Know-how in electrical and control engineering for the maritime industry. Involvement in design, construction and commissioning.
