Job Purpose: GSK is seeking an experienced and Senior Director, External Partnerships, Oncology (ASIA) that is reporting to the Head of Academic and Scientific Partnerships, Oncology. We are rapidly growing in Oncology – an exciting time to join a newly formed Global Partnerships team that accelerates scientific innovation through strategic external collaborations to bring meaningful advances to patients and their loved ones. In this Asia focused role, you will partner with local, regional and Global Medical, R&D and Commercial colleagues to design and implement a strategic, competitive and coordinated approach to long‑term partnerships with research networks, academic centres, collaborative groups, and societies across Asia. You will prioritise, establish and manage high‑impact collaborations, with an emphasis on China and Japan, to generate measurable scientific and clinical outcomes that support regional oncology needs and GSK’s global priorities across the product lifecycle. What you’ll be accountable for

• Establishing global team: Contribute to the setup and operationalisation of the new Global team, with Asia specific ways of working.
• Strategic planning: Jointly lead prioritisation and planning of high impact partners that align to strategic priorities and evidence generation needs.
• Partnership leadership: Be a credible and trusted contact for academic centres, research networks, cooperative groups and consortia in China, Japan and broader Asia – working alongside market relationship leads to develop and manage relationships.
• Stakeholder collaboration: Embed effective ways of working across local and Global teams to deliver aligned plans and outcomes.
• Represent GSK: Actively represent GSK with professionalism and expertise at key moments, including leading strategic meetings and events and attending scientific conferences.
• Market and competitor intelligence: Maintain a forward‑looking, outside‑in perspective by proactively identifying emerging opportunities, evaluating potential partners, and staying informed on competitor activities to ensure GSK remains at the forefront of Oncology advancements.
• Regulatory and compliance alignment: Ensure compliance with country specific regulatory, ethical and data governance requirements.
• Operational expertise: Drive project, budget and stakeholder management for partnership initiatives and define and track KPIs and impact metrics.
• Keep us moving forward: Provide progress updates and requests for stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific discipline.
• Prior experience in establishing and/or managing multiple external partnerships in the Asia, including research networks, academic centres, collaborative groups and societies.
• Prior experience in building and sustaining relationships with recognised external experts (e.g., investigators, network leaders, society leadership).
• Prior experience acting as a primary or senior point of contact for external stakeholders over time.
• Effective internal stakeholder management – including experience influencing decision‑making with senior internal stakeholders.
• Prior experience leading teams in a matrixed or cross‑functional environment, including setting objectives and priorities, coordinating deliverables and driving accountability.
• Familiarity with local regulatory, legal and compliance.

Key skills:

• Proven expertise in effective external relationship development and management with external partners – strong experience in China and Japan strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain advocacy with recognised External Experts.Evidence of leadership including line management experience.
• Excellent stakeholder management with experience influencing regional and Global senior leaders and cross functional teams.
• Strategic thinker with strong negotiation, problem solving and prioritisation skills.
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills that drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Ability to understand and effectively communicate complex scientific information.
• Strength in managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

• International role; travel (~30%) inc. across China, Japan and other markets will be required.
