RESPONSIBILITIES
Purpose of the role
Leadership role responsible for developing and executing Mediacorp's data strategy by leading the design, development and enhancement of our data infrastructure, data products and analytical capabilities.
Scope of the role
Responsible for data architecture, data platform management, data governance and developing various proprietary data products including content recommendation, ad targeting, cross-media optimisation and analytical AI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Define data engineering vision
- Develop a long-term vision for the data engineering function that aligns with broader commercial objectives.
- Define the data architecture, governance, and engineering roadmap to ensure scalability, reliability and continuous improvement in data capabilities.
- Continue to grow and build Mediacorp's award-winning data platforms and analytical solutions.
Drive technical leadership
- Translate business requirements into enterprise-grade data tech stack.
- Oversee design, development, and optimization of data pipelines, and data lakes/warehouses. Ensure the availability, quality, and security of Mediacorp's data assets and platforms.
- Serve as Mediacorp's subject matter expert on data engineering practices, including advocating best engineering practices in data product development, quality assurance, governance and compliance.
Partner and manage stakeholders
- Serve as the key point of data engineering contact with various internal and external stakeholders/vendors.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to drive shared goals and demonstrate data value.
- Align and negotiate stakeholder priorities, balancing business criticalities, technical feasibilities and budget/resource constraints.
Foster a culture of operational excellence
- Build and mentor a high-performance engineering team.
- Set performance indicators, growth plans and manage performance for success.

Functional competencies
- Proven expertise in building enterprise-grade data products and advanced analytical solutions
- Relevant experience in web, video, mobile or AdTech domains preferred
- Experience with AI technologies, frameworks and tools
- Advanced proficiency in data management technologies and software engineering tools to manage large volumes of data
- Production coding experience in Java, Scala, Spark programming languages; proficiency in SQL coding is mandatory.
- Strong scripting knowledge like Shell, Python, etc.
- Working knowledge of Web UI, middle-tier, and backend development
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of superior software development experience building large-scale commercial software solutions
- Significant experience in managing high-performance engineering teams
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent
