A leading engineering firm in Singapore seeks a Building Services Designer/Senior Building Services Designer to develop designs for HVAC, Fire Protection, and Sanitary systems. Candidates should have a Mechanical Degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience along with proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling tools. Job description

The Building Sevices Designer/Senior Building Services Designer works independently on design of HVAC/Fire Protection/Sanitary & Plumbing Systems for various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or Discipline Manager/Lead Engineer. This position will play a role in the entire design process including but not limited to preliminary assessments, concept design, basic design, detailed design, site support, problem resolution, customer & vendor accessibility. The Designer/Senior Designer may have to work on several concurrent projects and at times may assist as a technical expert on a specialized design.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Uses computer aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents. Reviews drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards.
• Familiar with Singapore Codes/Regulations for Design of HVAC, Fire Protection and Sanitary/plumbing Systems
• Familiar with Building Services system involved in Pharmaceutical, Clean Industrial and Petrochemical plants.
• Prepare 2D AutoCAD Design Drawings.
• Prepare 3D Model using Revit, AutoPlant, BIM or similar software and extract design drawings/Isometrics from these models.
• Prepares/supports Equipment general arrangement, piping general arrangement, Material Take-Off (MTO).
• Prepare demolition layouts/schematics, tie-in requirements and translate into drawings.
• Develops design concepts, prepares documents during various stages of design. Corrects and updates design documents. Develops solutions to design problems.
• Initiates squad inter‑discipline squad checks and squad checks with client (when necessary) prior to issue of drawings at various stages of project.
• Works with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion. Interacts with clients regularly to secure scope and design intent.
• Ensure acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to assure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
• Coordinates design work with related engineering disciplines. Attends job and construction meetings, site walks, liaises with M&E contractor and participates in the coordination of the M&E work with other disciplines.
• Contributes to annual performance reviews, assists in educating and development of assigned design staff and acts as a resource for design questions.
