Overview
Application Engineer is a key position in Instron's business. This position requires a deep understanding of the business, communication and management skills with business intuition, combined with product and application expertise to develop and guide the team, drive team development and decision-making, align the team's work with the needs of Japan's business characteristics, maximize the potential to help the business succeed, and maintain Instron’s market position as a high-quality supplier of material testing equipment and the highest customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with customers, sales, and service teams to deliver timely, expert technical support before, during, and after sales, enhancing user experience and demonstrating Instron’s professional brand capabilities
- Conduct market research and perform in-depth analysis of customer needs, market trends, and competitor offerings to identify solution advantages and support competitive positioning in targeted applications and markets
- Support marketing initiatives by attending technical conferences, exhibitions, and seminars, contributing to marketing content such as social media, and maintaining brand visibility and reputation
- Identify new business requirements and lead the team in creating and optimizing sales tools, including application solutions, presentations, document templates, videos, and seminar/webinar content to drive business growth
- Manage order cleanliness through regular review and summary, initiate corrective and preventive actions, and resolve historical product and application issues to ensure operational excellence
- Oversee asset management, daily operations, and 5S maintenance of the DEMO lab, ensuring DEMO testing quality meets sales requirements and Instron standards to deliver efficient, high-quality customer experiences
- Plan and schedule new product launches, monitor new product business development progress, and track customer feedback to support continuous improvement
- Lead product and application training, as well as soft skills development, for sales, service, and internal teams to enhance organizational capability
- Maintain daily communication with international teams to resolve application issues, relay market feedback, and coordinate Voice of Customer (VOC) research activities to drive product innovation
- Utilize ITW tools such as 80/20, USa, and PLS to actively promote continuous improvement initiatives that maximize team effectiveness and organizational efficiency
- Build team capacity by facilitating learning of new products, technologies, communication techniques, and project management skills to foster a high-performing organization
- Execute additional duties as assigned by leadership to support business objectives
Candidate must be open to relocation to Japan.
