Job description
Overview

Senior Analyst – Shipping Accounting, Reporting & Control (ARC), based in Singapore. The successful candidate will be part of the Shipping & BPMS Finance Team and will report to the Finance Manager, Operated Fleet and Singapore Management Information. This role provides financial partnering to BPMS, BP Shipping Singapore and UK, and Finance, Business & Technology (FBT) for Crewing and Shipping across the global fleet, to optimise Crewing payroll and financial operations and Shipping regional reporting, tax and financial positions.

Responsibilities
  • Partner the business to understand changing needs of the Shipping business and build/propose new processes and systems to support the BPMS operating model for cost collection and financial analyses.
  • Build, coordinate and communicate operational reports and monthly performance reports aligned to management needs using up-to-date technology and tools.
  • Manage audience groups and feedback channels for continuous improvements and value addition to management decision making.
  • Develop analytical, reporting and supporting accounting and payroll structures for new processes/systems; plan and implement adoption by Finance Team/FBT.
  • Plan internal control processes for BPMS, including Finance Team systems for Business Continuity Plan (BCP), Desk Top Procedures (DTPs), job swap and other control arrangements.
  • Evolve the payroll function to provide operational and financial solutions for the Crewing function in line with business changes.
  • Collaborate with BPMS functional teams (Crewing Leads, Planning & Logistics, HR) to plan long-term payroll infrastructure for Shipping.
  • Develop/maintain payroll controls; ensure accurate payment and reporting of payroll information and employee benefits, in compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, regulations and BP policy.
  • Plan and develop payroll workflow; approve master payroll calendars and monthly processing schedules.
  • Develop financial analyses and reports for fleet build, salary increments and foreign exchange; handle AIS Enterprise Tax Incentive for Shipping Finance Singapore and coordinate with Tax teams and authorities.
  • Coordinate audits on Shipping finance information as required by Shipping Singapore and external partners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with outsourced partners and with FBT and BP Shipping Finance for information requirements and cost analyses.
  • Provide support and cover for other finance team roles as needed; undertake additional ad-hoc reports and projects on demand.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
  • Meaningful operational finance experience with a track record of delivering commercial value.
  • Experience in financial accounting or financial planning.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and knowledge-sharing skills; ability to influence collaboratively.
  • Strong teamwork, proactivity and assertiveness; good analytical skills and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to manage conflict and multiple priorities.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Marine/Shipping industry.
  • SAP accounting system experience.
  • Experience in Shipping Payroll and SmartPal Shipmanagement System is desirable.
  • University degree or equivalent; behavioural strengths and high performance are valued.
