Job summary

A leading educational institution in Singapore is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee financial operations and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Accountancy and at least 8 years of experience, preferably in the education sector. The Finance Manager will manage budget preparation, compliance with regulatory bodies, and collaborate with external auditors. JOB DESCRIPTION

Job-holder, working closely with the School Principal, President and Management team, will be responsible for the overall management of the School’s accounting and financial operations which include the development of financial policies and procedures, planning and allocation of financial resources, accountability and control and financial and management reporting.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage and oversee the Finance functions to provide smooth operation support for the School

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management reporting and analysis of financial results for the Group

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly re-forecast

  • Assist with the preparation of Board Papers for Board Meetings

  • Assist with the development of the annual budget

  • Update the Risk Register

  • Prepare the quarterly GST filing

  • Prepare monthly journals and schedules

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations

  • Assist in month-end closing and year-end closing

  • Cash management and cash flow projections

  • Manage the Fixed Assets capitalization, tracking and tagging

  • Implement finance policies and procedures

  • Submit reports to Taylor School Office and Group Finance when requested

  • Submit reports to financial institutions

  • Evaluate, make recommendations, and develop department-wide financial internal control processes, while conforming to the School’s policies and procedures, and applicable statutory rules and regulations.

  • Ensure timely submission of reports to the regulatory bodies, e.g. IRAS, ACRA.

  • Liaising with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, insurers and statutory bodies

  • System implementation and process review

  • Engage stakeholders at all levels about financial matters

  • Involvement in whole school events and activities as required.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager/Finance Manager/Senior Management

Supervision
  • Supervise and direct staff in accordance with school’s policies and procedures

  • Prioritise, co-ordinate, and allocate work assignments to staff; provide coaching, training and resolve day-to-day problems and issues

  • To ensure Finance and Purchasing daily operation is effectively managed

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Possess a Degree in Accountancy or Professional Accounting qualifications in ACCA, CIMA or its equivalent.

  • At least eight (8) years of relevant working experience

  • Working experience in the education industry is preferred

  • External Audit experience will be an added advantage

  • Knowledge of SAP S4 Hana will be an added advantage
