The Security Officer delivers the safety and security measures that meet the requirement of the Hotel Management.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manages the Control Room
- Verifies all visitors, guests and contractors of they are verified and issue pass to them after verifications.
- Records and issues departmental keys to the colleagues after verification. Acknowledges and records when the keys are returned.
- Reports and documents all incidents in the Security Management Occurrence log.
- Answers to all telephone enquiries in a calm and professional manner.
- Records and takes pictures of all Loss and Found items surrendered by colleagues or others in the “Case Property” form and thereafter hand over to Housekeeping if there is no claimant.
- Responds to the fire alarm bell activation and activates the CERT members, Decam (Decentralized Alarm Monitoring Station), Hotel Telephone Operator and raises the Fire Alarm Bell Activation Report thereafter.
- Assists in the evacuation when the need arises.
- Assists in managing the Electronic Parking System for the Carpark, including printing the Daily Revenue Report and Settlement Report daily.
- Any other duties assigned by the Security Supervisors and Managers.
- Prepares to assume the role of a CERT member when the need arises.
Standard Duties
- Ensures a peaceful environment, greets guests coming/going out of the hotel, and reports and takes action if there is a disturbance.
- Ensures orderly traffic flow, advises drivers of unauthorised parking to park at designated car park and reports and takes action if there is a disturbance.
- Conducts checks on unauthorised parking, advises the driver to park in designated car parks, and reports and takes action if there is a disturbance.
- Ensures only authorised contractors or supplier vehicles are allowed to park in the loading bay.
- Ensures smooth traffic movements in the loading bay.
- Ensures the vehicles are parked in an assigned parking lot.
- Ensures no obstruction causes issues for other vehicles using the loading bay.
- Verifies the identities of all contractors/workers using the loading bay.
- Responds to any emergencies within 3 minutes or less.
Patrols
- Residence patrolling for crime prevention and to report any incidents, disputes, disturbances or found properties left unattended.
- Perimeter patrolling to ensure that the hotel’s exterior walls are not vandalised or damaged, and ensure the street lamps are in working condition.
- Raffles Arcade Blocks patrolling for crime prevention, providing assistance or enquiries from city guests or members of the public.
- Responds to any emergencies within 3 minutes or less.
Security Team Involvement
- Provides security escorts for finance department to the bank.
- Witnesses colleagues depositing sales proceeds at finance department.
- Crowd Control Duty during major events or VVIP visits.
- Prepares to assume the role of the CERT members and First Aider.
Qualifications
- Must be a registered Security Officer with Police Licensing & Regulatory Department (PLRD) and hold a valid Security License issued by PLRD.
- Secondary education with WSQ Certification in Security Operations.
- Certified in First Aid, CPR and AED.
- Certified CERT member as per Singapore Civic Defence Force (SCDF) guidelines under High Risks Installation (HRI) Tier 1.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the hotel industry.
- Outgoing personality and able to remain calm under duress.
- Willing to acquire new knowledge and experience.
- Oral and written fluency in English. Ability to converse in other languages is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) will be an advantage.
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
- Service oriented with an eye for details and inquisitive mind.
- Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team.
- Flexible and able to embrace and respond to change effectively.
- Ability to work independently and has good initiative under dynamic environment.
- Self‑motivated.
- Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
